Director Tsujimoto and screenwriter Yoshitake Suzuki, who covered the game world of Monster Hunter Rise and its respective expansions, answered several questions to a correspondent about the lack of the Lagiacrus monster in the expansion. Below we can read their statements:

“Unfortunately Lagiacrus is just a very technological monster… difficult to implement. It is very similar to a snake, its parts touch the ground at different times, ”Tsujimoto explained. “So it’s very similar to some kind of writhing monster on the ground.”

Lagiacrus is one of the most interesting monsters from a graphic and playful point of view, as it is one of the strongest of the brand as it was one of the first to be introduced into the brand, considered as Leviathan in the Monster Hunter Tri chapter. Although there are many other creatures in the DLC such as Mizutsune and the new Almudron, the lack of Lagiacrus is considered difficult in design to be introduced at a later time, by virtue of the reason that there are other similar beasts.

Yet, other beasts such as the Mizutsune and the Almudron can touch the ground like the Lagiacrus, but have a particularity unlike the latter which, unlike the first three, has the possibility of confronting the enemy, better than the Mizutsune , as its large size touches the ground with more space.

Lagiacrus has long been included in the Monster Hunter creature roster and even appeared in the first trailer, to be considered a graphic prototype for the game world, of Monster Hunter World shown during the 2018 GDC. But, unfortunately, it was not included also. in this chapter for the same reasons as the Rise. Therefore, as Monster Hunter World executive director Kaname Fujioka also added, the same reasons are reflected in the Rise episode.
