Xiaomi Book Pro 2022: official new notebooks, with OLED and Intel of 12th gen

In the past few hours, Xiaomi held an event in China which, after the triad of the top 12S range, also made it possible to appreciate other products from the assortment of Lei Jun’s company, including a new fitness tracker, a mesh system and the Xiaomi Book Pro 2022.

At the event that saw various smartphones unveiled, including the top 12 Ultra range and the Band 7 Pro, Xiaomi also pulled an updated Windows based laptop out of the hat, and a mesh system for home connection.

Intel Evo certified, the new Xiaomi Book Pro 2022 have an OLED screen in 16:10 format with 90% screen-to-body: in the 16-inch model it is resolved in 4K, has a contrast of 1,000,000: 1, and the DisplayHDR 400 certification (therefore with peak brightness at 650 nits), while the 14-inch one is resolved in 2.8K and DisplayHDR 500 certified. In both dimensions, the screen probably has 60 Hz refresh rate but, for sure, the Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 100% DCI-P3 and sRGB color gamut and high Delta-E (0.33) color accuracy. The webcam is capable of 720p video calls.

In comparison, the keyboard, of normal size, with 4 levels of backlighting: between the side doors, there is the Thunderbolt 4 while, as for wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E are implemented. For the processors, obtaining overall performance increased up to 70% compared to the previous model, 12th gen Intel processors were used, of the P series more energy-efficient than the H (but also less powerful), with the user being able to choose between a Core i5-1240P and a Core i7-1260P, again with Intel Iris Xe iGPU, but also with discrete options from Nvidia GeForce, including the RTX 2050 and (reserved for 14 “) the MX550.

The RAM, LPDDR5, reaches 16 GB, while the SSD storage is pushed to 512, with a PCI-E 4.0 interface: for autonomy the 14 “model has a 56 Wh battery, while the 16” one integrates one 70 Wh: in both cases the complete top-up will be quick, thanks to the presence of a 100W GaN charger. Finally, the operating system is Windows 11. In terms of prices, the Xiaomi Book Pro, from 14 ”, ranges from 5,899 yuan (845 euros) for the basic version to 7,999 yuan (1,146 euros) for the top one. The 16-inch model instead starts at 6,499 yuan (931 euros) and reaches 8,499 yuan (1,218 euros).

To connect to the internet, up to 11,700 Mbps, smart home devices, including notebooks seen above, Xiaomi presented its Home WiFi (1,499 yuan, 215 euros), a mesh system with a tri-band router (2.4, 5, and 5.8 GHz): by default, the system connects a maximum of 10 network devices, and via Bluetooth mesh, up to 200 compatible devices. Equipped with an RJ45 port for the 2.5G LAN, the Xiaomi Home WiFi can be quickly associated with devices, with a single touch, via NFC touch-to-connect.
