Even YouTube users, according to what has been announced, can now benefit from the Google Play billing system: here are the advantages for the end user.
YouTube has adapted and is now using the Google Play billing system

Last September, Google launched new rules, according to which companies wishing to offer their services or digital goods on the Play Store would have to use its billing system for in-app purchases (briefly called “IAP”), or Google Play Billing: here are the developments for the various iterations of the YouTube ecosystem.

After the summer, Google, under penalty of delisting, asked the developers, who still did not use its billing system integrated in the Play Store, to adapt by 30 September 2021: later, in the meantime, the Barnes & Noble app and that of Amazon Audible suffered the consequences (in the first you can no longer buy digital books, in the second you can no longer buy titles with a credit / debit card), the postponement has arrived until March 31, 2022.

This allowed YouTube (Premium) to adapt last January, with the consequence that those who registered for YouTube Premium and Music Premium after January 2022 will have to request a refund on Google Play, at the web address used for the purpose (support. google.com/googleplay/workflow/9813244?p=refundAWF&visit_id=637792620759889745-1678796919&rd=1), while those who subscribed before or during January 2022 can apply for a refund.

According to 9to5Google, the process is now complete and YouTube Premium and YouTube TV are perfectly aligned with the new guidelines of Google “mom”: in particular, when using the dedicated client to subscribe to YouTube Music Premium or YouTube TV, or from the app YouTube standard for Android goes to the Premium level, the billing system used in the past by the big Y will no longer be required, but the billing system of Google Play will be required. The latter will also be required for subscriptions to YouTube channels.

For end users, the benefits of these guiding rules are manifold. It will be possible, from a single location, the Subscriptions page of Google Play, to keep under control all the services that you pay for, and to unsubscribe from them in an easier way. The data will be entered only once, and not service by service and, finally, it will be possible to earn Play Points (useful for subscribing to Google One, to buy games on Stadia, to buy games or apps on the Play Store, or to buy on Google Play Movies / Google Play episodes, movies, books and TV shows).
