Together with the many monitors, at Computex 2022 in Taipei, the name of the most important hardware event in Asia is being honored also with various computers and notebooks (eg Asus and HP): to the announcements that have already emerged, in the past few hours has been added also that of the Chinese Zotac that greets (belatedly) the new year with the curious “wearable” computer Zotac VR Go 4.0, for now still lacking in details regarding prices and debut on the market.

Designed to be worn like an ordinary backpack, adapting it to the compatible plate present in the purchase package (together with the USB recovery key, the charging base for the batteries, the 12 V power cable, and the AC adapter) , the new VR Go 4.0 is a computer expressly conceived for applications in extended reality, also called Extendend Reality or XR. The top and side of the chassis, weighing 5.2 grams, bears the numerous onboard ports.

In this sense, the Zotac VR Go 4.0 can boast, for example, an HDMI 2.1 (therefore also suitable for next gen consoles such as the PS5, given the support for VRR in terms of variable refresh rate, ALLM, or the autosetting of the mode at low latency, and video streams up to 8K @ 60Hz in HDR), five USB 3.1 (one Type-C), two USB 3.0 Type-A, an SD card reader, and a pair of Display Port 1.4.

The volume of the 8.5-liter Zotac VR Go 4.0 implements a hardware, air-cooled, that touches the high-end of computers, with an 11th generation Intel processor (replacing the 3.0 i7-9750H) as the Core i7-11800H, an octacore (4.60 GHz maximum) to 16 threads of the Q2 of 2021, here flanked by a dedicated graphics card RTX A4500 from Nvidia (typical of workstations). The RAM, DDR4, amounts to 16 GB, but the manufacturer proclaims its expandability up to 32 GB, while for the 512 GB M.2 SSD storage, it can count on expansion opportunities by relying on the free 2.5 slot inch with 6 Gb / s interface.

Finally, to equip the Zotac VR Go 4.0, in terms of autonomy, there are two 86.4 Wh batteries, which share the advantage of being able to be replaced in hot swap, that is “hot”, without interrupting the activities.
