Have we lost or broken the Fire TV Stick remote control? Don’t worry, we can replace it with our smartphone or with a new compatible one
The Fire TV Stick remote control is the way to control all the features of the HDMI dongle provided by Amazon, also excellent for using Alexa voice commands, for writing the names of the contents to be played using only your voice and for quickly accessing Netflix , Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video. Like any self-respecting remote control, it can happen that you lose it at home or find it broken or not working, making it impossible to control the Fire TV controls.
You can, of course, replace your lost or damaged Fire TV Stick remote with an original or compatible one, but it is also possible use your Fire TV without a remote, using only your smartphone.

App Amazon Fire TV
Without the Fire TV Stick remote control, you can use it with the app Amazon Fire TVavailable free of charge for Android and iPhone/iPad.
The app is really very simple to configure: after installing it, start it, log in with the same Amazon account present on the Fire TV Stick and, after a few seconds, we will see the Fire TV in our possession among the configurable devices; to be safe we enter the 4-digit code displayed on the Fire TV screen, so as to be sure to pair only our phone.
After the initial configuration we will see the virtual buttons identical to those of the physical remote control appear on the phone screen; in addition to the replica of the physical keys we also find the touch remote control (to move a cursor within the apps or menus) and, when necessary, we can also call up the phone or tablet keyboard to quickly write in text fields.
Obviously, in order to use the app in question, the phone or tablet in use must be connected to the same modem (via Wi-Fi), otherwise it is not possible to establish the connection. This app is so useful that we recommend installing and configuring it beforehand, even if you have a working remote control.
Usare Amazon Alexa
While waiting to get a new remote control (like the ones visible below) we can always control the contents of the Fire TV also from Alexalaunching voice commands with an Amazon Echo present in the home (even better if in the living room or near the television).
By connecting the Fire TV Stick and the Amazon Echo to the same modem (therefore on the same Wi-Fi) we will be able to control your Fire TV with our voiceasking, for example: “Alexa, riproduci The Boys sul Fire TV”, “Alexa, apri Netflix su Fire TV”, “Alexa, pause Fire TV” o “Alexa, raise/lower volume on Fire TV”.
Not all the functions of the Fire TV can be recalled with voice commands, but most of the Amazon-related functions are perfectly integrated between all the devices, so as to be able to temporarily replace the absence of the remote control.
Spare or replacement remote control
If we can’t resist the presence of a physical remote control we can buy on Amazon Compatible remote controls for Fire TVeasy to configure on all models marketed by Amazon.
Amazon’s official replacement remote control is the Alexa voice remote controlsold only on Amazon for €39.
This remote is compatible with the Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick (2nd generation onwards), Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube (1st generation onwards) and Amazon Fire TV (3rd generation) generation Once the batteries have been installed, simply press the Home button (shaped like a house) near the Fire TV to start synchronization, so you can immediately control the Amazon device without further steps.
If we wanted to save money, a spare remote control for the Fire TV is the ALLIMITY one for 15 Euros, without voice commands.
There are also many other unofficial, cheap and well-reviewed remote controls that you can choose from, such as this one from ACEMAX (€18) or VINABTY (€18).
Compatible (unofficial) remote controls are configured identically to the original remote control: insert the batteries into the remote control and press the Home button (shaped like a house), so as to start recognition on the Fire TV.
Conclusions
Losing or breaking the Fire TV Stick remote control is therefore not such a big problem, especially because it can be replaced for free with l’app Fire TV su smartphone, which is also superior to even the physical remote control in doing searches. Obviously a physical remote control is more convenient, because it doesn’t require being connected every time, because it doesn’t block us from using the phone.
