Expected for several weeks, the LSX II Wireless were presented in the past few hours, the new and practical active speakers that KEF has endowed with considerable versatility, with an undeniable taste also in style.

After the more than exhaustive mid-month revelations, the British brand KEF has announced the new and compact LSX II Wireless active loudspeakers, colored in Soundwave beige (by Terence Conran), Cobalt Blue / Carbon Black (on Kvadrat fabric), and Lava Red / Mineral White (glossy chassis with satin finish), again the result of the minimalist flair of designer Michael Young.
Distributed in Italy by Hifight, according to a price list of 1,499 euros, the compact speakers (240 x 155 x 180 mm) KEF LSX II Wireless basic mount the 11th generation of Uni-Q transducers, which entrust the highs to a tweeter with aluminum dome, sized at 19 mm, and the mid-low frequencies to a mid-woofer, with magnesium / aluminum cone, 115 mm, with both units benefiting (respectively for 30 and 70W) from class D amplifiers, in the name of an output that, at a distance of 1 meter, records a peak SPL, maximum sound pressure, equal to 102 decibels, and which is very natural, thanks to the Music Integrity Engine (which applies the phase correction by tuning the ‘mid-woofer and tweeter emission).
The connection between the two units, the primary and the secondary one, can be done wirelessly (with PCM pulse modulation at 48 kHz / 24-bit) or by cable, using the RJ45 port of the first unit (with PCM at 96 kHz / 24-bit): in any case, the two speakers must each be connected to the power supply, but it is only the first of the pair to have all the ports, including the output for an optional subwoofer, a USB Type-C (eg . to connect smartphones, tablets, PCs), an HDMI (ARC), the 3.5 mm jack as analog input, the optical digital input, an Ethernet (as an alternative to wireless internet connection, via Wi-Fi ac dual band) .
In anticipation of receiving the Roon Ready certification, ready for use in multi-room, the active LSX II Wireless speakers, thanks to the KEF Connect app (also useful for using the Room EQ sound calibration function based on the position of the the equipment and the characteristics of the room, and to obtain the automatic switching on of the two units when a source is connected via cable, with the system capable of memorizing the last volume set for each input) and to the Wireless W2 platform, support the well-known services Deezer, Amazon Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, QQ Music, Spotify (Connect), podcasts and internet radios.
Do not miss the mirroring via Chromecast, Bluetooth 4.2, and AirPlay 2: in addition, the LSX II Wireless compact active speakers are able to cover different formats (eg. Mp3 / 4A, PCM, Ogg Vorbis, MQA with full rendering, WAV, DSD, FLAC, AAC, WMA, ALAC, AIFF, ALAC) with file sampling at 384 kHz / 32-bit max.
