Adobe presents the Photoshop of music: generative AI creates and edits audio tracks

Like other large companies, too Adobe is gradually embracing thegenerative artificial intelligence. And after the latest news made available to those who use Photoshop, the San Jose giant has created an AI tool that will allow anyone to create musicregardless of one’s experience in the field.

With Adobe’s Project Music GenAI Control AI you don’t have to be a professional to create music

Announced at the Hot Pod Summit in Brooklyn, Project Music GenAI Control is a tool (currently still in the testing phase) that users can use to create and/or edit audio tracks simply starting from a text prompt. «Project Music GenAI Control helps people create music for their projects, whether they’re broadcasters, podcasters, or anyone else who needs an audio track with the right feel, tone, and duration», commenta Nicholas Bryan.

To get started, just enter a minimal textual description that will lead to the creation of music in a specific style, such as “happy dance” or “sad jazz”. Users will then have the possibility to modify the track with special internal tools: they will be able to adjust repeated patterns, tempo, intensity and structure. It will also be possible to generate repeated loops, useful for example for creators who need background music for their video content. However, the characteristics of the user interface remain unknown at the moment.

In the video shared by Adobe you can see how it is possible to create a song too starting from a reference melody. This is modified by the AI by typing simple prompts, such as “inspiring film” e “intense hip-hop“.

«An interesting aspect of these new tools is that they don’t just generate audio: they bring it to the level of Photoshop, giving creatives the same kind of control to shape, optimize and edit their music. It’s a kind of pixel-level control, but for music» explains Bryan, senior researcher at Adobe Research.

The new AI tool it is not yet available and a release date has not yet been announced.
