Last September Amazon announced that it would introduce advertising on Prime Videothe digital giant’s streaming service.
On this occasion the company created by Jeff Bezos did not reveal the potential date of this introduction, limiting itself to a generic “Early 2024“. In the past few hours, the date of this introduction has finally been revealed, i.e. January 29th. According to the e-Commerce giant, this introduction will allow the platforms to create captivating content through long-term investments.
The addition of commercials will occur gradually, with immediate introduction in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Germany. Following, there will be France, Spain, Mexico, Australia and Europe.
Ads on Prime Video: for Amazon they will be fewer than the competition
As it turns out, Prime’s price will remain the same for now. In the US context, however, the possibility has already been announced by subscribers to eliminate advertisingpaying an extra $2.99 per month. If this option catches on, it will most likely be replicated in other countries too.
This news, beyond the September announcement, does not catch Amazon customers unprepared. The strategy adopted, in fact, follows what has been done by some competitors in the streaming sector.
