How to check if a vehicle has been stolen or is insured by its license plate, using some apps for iPhone and Android
If necessary, it is always possible trace the owner of a vehicle doing the immediate license plate scan and by carrying out a search to find out if there is a certificate of insurance for that vehicle and to find out if the car has been stolen.Unfortunately, to find data of this type and perhaps even trace the owner of a vehicle, i.e. the person to whom it is registered, there are only limitedTI services, such as that of the ACI or that of Sevim which, at least, does not require registration with all your personal data.
On the other hand, it is possible to know, if not to whom a vehicle belongs, at least know if the car or motorbike is covered by insurance and if it is not stolen.
This information is easily extracted from some applications that you can keep on your Android smartphone or iPhone to be able to use them when needed.

On the IRS website it is possible to use the car tax calculation tool to get information about a vehicle, even if it is not possible to know who owns it.
The simple calculation page where it is required to enter, in addition to the license plate number, the vehicle category.
App to check license plate and car insurance
1) One of the best apps for Android to check a car’s license plate quickly and easily with your smartphone is Infotarga.
Trying to insert, for example, the license plate number of my car, I found how the app recognized the make and model, engine size, horsepower, power supply, class, registration date, car tax cost and then even if it is insured and with what date and if it was stolen. The app also maintains a search history which is very convenient for finding information.
2) Infotarga is perhaps better than the most popular car and vehicle license plate search app, the one called Vehicle Scanners.

3) Very good, too, is Check the RCAwhich allows you to see, for each license plate of a vehicle, car and motorcycle, the following information:
– Insurance data and expiry taken from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
– If it is a stolen vehicle, taking public data from the Ministry of the Interior.
– Details of the car, taken from the Agenzia delle Entrate.
Unfortunately, from no application it is possible to trace the name and surname of the owner and his contact details or telephone numbers. From this app it is also possible to check the license plates of vehicles registered in Bulgaria and Latvia. Maybe if it also added the license plates of cars registered in Romania it would be the best.
4) Vehicle is a great app for checking car, motorcycle and truck license plates available for Android and for iPhone (on the latter it is only available for a fee). The app clearly and precisely displays information on any license plate entered in the text fields and collects everything needed to monitor the status of a vehicle, TO obtain information on insurance, inspection, the presence of a stolen vehicle.
5) Who owns an iPhone or an iPad can try the app too to iTarone of the best of its kind with insurance coverage, road tax and MOT verification system for cars, motorcycles, mopeds and trucks, with the ability to save all your searches and create your own personal “garage”.
In addition to the apps we can use the ICA website to calculate the car tax to be paid and to get information on a vehicle (technical data sheet and road tax paid in previous years, any arrears and unpaid road tax, etc.).
With this site it is not possible to know who owns the vehicle we scan, given that for this type of information, in this case, the PRA certificateas seen in the recommended guide at the beginning of this article.
