Apple, new Macs with M4 chip are arriving: focus on AI

Macs with the M3 processor range are getting noticed for their excellent performance in practically every area and there could be other innovations in this regard over the next few months. At the moment, in fact, the only new entry for 2023 is the 13 and 15 inch MacBook Air M3. However, there is also something else in Apple’s future: by the end of 2024reveals a more than reliable source, the Mac with M4a processor which – in all its variants – will also and above all guarantee superior performance from an AI perspective.

The first Macs with M4 arrive in 2024: the first details

By now it seems almost superfluous to underline it, but the indiscretion comes from Mark Gurmanthe signature of Bloomberg which for years now has been sharing preview information on the plans on the agenda of the Cupertino company. According to the journalist, Apple will soon start production of the M4 chip, which “will be available in at least three different versions” and which will lead to every Mac in the price list.

The transition to the new processor will begin in the second half of 2024, probably with iMac, MacBook Pro e Mac Mini.

Apple aims to release the new computers starting from the end of this year, and then continuing to early 2025. There will be a new iMac, a “base” 14-inch MacBook Pro, a MacBook Pro (14″ and 16″) with higher specs and a Mac Mini.

As regards the 2025in spring space will be dedicated to MacBook Air (again 13″ and 15″), followed by Mac Studio e Mac Pro.

Following what is now a tradition, the M4 range will also have different versions. Few doubts about the names: the standard one will be joined by the Pro and Max configurations. The new family of chips will focus on increasing performance and efficiency, but will bring with it also an improvement in terms of AI processing.

Regarding artificial intelligence, Apple has not yet said its opinion but within a few months it should reveal some of its cards. In fact, news related to generative AI are (also) expected at WWDC24 in June.
