Apple releases the second public beta of iOS 17 (and more)

It’s time to download a new update for all those users who have decided to preview iOS 17 (and/or another of the new operating systems presented by Apple at WWDC23). The Cupertino giant has in fact released the second public beta of the just mentioned platform that brings with it the same news as Beta 4 for developers.

iOS 17: The second public beta is available

iOS 17 Beta 2 and all other updates are already available for download. For anyone who doesn’t want to wait for September/October (the period during which the final versions of the updates are usually released), it is necessary to register for the Apple beta program. Once the procedure is complete, on the iPhone just go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates.

The new build of iOS 17 does not introduce anything new compared to the previous one but fixes bugs and, more generally, it improves the performance of the operating system. Which certainly doesn’t hurt.

Some were certainly disappointed during this year’s WWDC keynote, but iOS 17 isn’t as poor in changes as many claim. Very interesting is for example the mode starvation Standbywhich transforms into a sort of smart display the iPhone when it is charging (preferably on a magnetic charger with stand).

Then there are the interactive widget both on the lock screen and on the home screen and also the new function NameDrop. This is used to share contact information in record time with another person in possession of an iPhone, provided that they are in the immediate vicinity. Speaking of contacts, the Phone app has been slightly overhauled and displays customizable contact images.

Also worth noting several improvements to FaceTime and iMessage and, above all, of Salute. The app has in fact been enriched with a new feature to monitor mood and with the app Diarywhich however will be made available a little later.

As mentioned, the other public betas of Apple’s new OS have also been released iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, watchOS 10 and tvOS 17.
