Apple wants to make the iPad offer clearer: it starts in 2024

The market of tablet is struggling to take off: in the third quarter of 2023, the decline was 14.2% on an annual basis. Companies involved in this sector cannot help but seriously consider these numbers, testimony to little interest in this type of device. For example, what strategy should it implement? Applewho with his iPad Is it a reference point?

No new iPad in 2023: Apple is preparing a reorganization of the offer for 2024

The Californian giant has no rivals in this slice of the market, its iPads – despite sales having decreased (around 2 million units less on an annual basis) – remain the first choice. But probably it is necessary to clean up the proposal and provide greater clarity. And perhaps it is precisely for this reason that Apple in 2023 it did not present any new tablet.

So what surprises does 2024 have in store? As usual, in the absence of official news, we can only move hypothesis. Perhaps referring to the rumors that are spread week after week by reliable names in the sector, such as Mark Gurman Of Bloomberg.

The journalist, in his weekly newsletter, points out that Apple’s current proposal in terms of tablets is confusing to say the least. There are five iPad models available (Pro, Air, Mini and base 9th and 10th generation), some of which are too similar to each other both in terms of performance and design. In short, for a potential buyer, the choice is not at all simple.

In light of this, according to Gurman, Apple is thinking of aiming for greater clarity:

  • iPad Pro it will have a new design (with OLED display), will adopt M3 processors and will come in two models, 11 and 13 inches
  • the gamma Air will come in 10.9″ versions and a larger (and new) 12.9″ version
  • during 2024 a 11th generation base model which in the price list will replace the 10th generation one and above all the 9th generation one, whose look is characterized by the physical Home button and thick and quite anachronistic frames

The reorganization of the iPad proposal should therefore be a priority in Apple’s plans, but according to the first comments on social networks and forums, the problem would certainly not be solved. For true “cleanliness”, some believe, the Californian giant should focus solely on the Air and Pro models.

However, it must be admitted that it is almost unthinkable that Tim Cook & co. come to make such a decision. The basic iPad, in fact, is essential above all for the sector educationalrecently taken by storm by Chromebooks.
