Bluesky launches RSS feeds: here's how they work

Blueskya direct competitor platform of X/Twitterintroduced i feed RSS.

This new function allows you to follow the flow of publications of each user registered on the social network, through a specific link. This, although quite long and difficult to remember, can be used by anyone tool used for reading RSS.

To cite an example of an RSS feed linked to Bluesky, we can cite that of the CEO, i.e Jay Graberwhich in this specific case is the following:

https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:oky5czdrnfjpqslsw2a5iclo/rss

Although these are complicated URLs, it must be said that these are embedded in each user’s profile, therefore easy to retrieve. Not only that: for those who use some RSS apps, it will be possible to locate a Bluesky user’s feed just by searching for their name.

Posts published on Bluesky are public by default, but users can limit access to some content only to those registered on the platform. This can affect whether RSS feeds are accessible or not.

Bluesky’s RSS feeds have some initial limitations, but they promise well for the future

This interesting implementation, at the moment, has physiological limits.

The proposed text, for example, does not incorporate any published links. Despite this, a future introduction of clickable links in the near future is more than foreseeable.

Although the function still appears immature, as just mentioned, it demonstrates the developers’ willingness to further develop a rather promising platform, capable of competing with much more established social networks. Furthermore, openness towards user suggestions, with a feedback collection system which gives voice to the members, suggests a more than rosy future for the project.

Bluesky was founded by Jack Dorseyformer CEO of Twitter, in 2019. The idea behind this project is the creation of a new decentralized standard for social media, with a plan that initially saw a synergy (then interrupted in 2022) with the Twitter platform Elon Musk.
