ChromeOS is updated: even more modern and uniform design

The months of June and July are rich in interesting news for Chromebooks and ChromeOS, the Google home operating system proposed right on its proprietary laptops. The future looks increasingly modern and performing, not only in light of the possible launch of high-end Chromebooks featuring the latest generation AMD and Intel chips, but also due to the considerable change in design. The Big G, in fact, seems to be preparing a transition to the more pleasant, minimal and colorful style of Material You also on the computer.

ChromeOS adotta il design Material You

According to cr_c2cv on Twitter, whose original post you can find right below, ChromeOS will soon get some of the same UI improvements that Google has been working on for other platforms. The last flag introduced in the Canary build of the OS adds an option for turn on rounded corners opting for more spokes. For example, you can select a radius of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 pixels once the feature is enabled.

This is an effect that will be applied to system elements such as pop-out windows and full windows, which isn’t exactly surprising though. After all, Google has been working on a redesign to Chrome across Windows, Mac, and other platforms for years, and the more rounded corners have long been known as one of the biggest changes to come.

It is a design choice consistent with the Material You style introduced on Android and enjoyed by millions of users worldwide. More colors, more pleasant and soft shapes, all for greater clarity during the daily use of digital platforms. It’s not entirely clear when Google will bring rounded corners to all ChromeOS users, but it will probably be a few more months to wait.
