1) Connect Netflix to Google Home

To connect Netflix to Google Home we download the app of the same name for Android and for iPhonelet’s open it and log in with the Google account we want to use, also adding all the home automation devices present in the home network.

After adding all the devices to Google Home, let’s go to the screen Settingswe press the button Videowe press on the item Co-worker present under the service Netflixpress on Connect account and enter the access credentials for the Netflix service.

If we already have the Netflix app installed on our device we will see the link appear in the app Home to immediately connect the streaming service to the home automation app, speeding up the association of the Netflix service with our home automation devices even more equipped with a screen.

2) Launch Netflix content with Google Assistant

Now that the Netflix account is associated with Google Home, Google’s voice assistant is able to respond precisely to viewing requests on any device added to the network. To take advantage of this function all we have to do is launch commands like those visible below:

  • Hey Google, avvia Strangers Things su Android TV
  • Ok Google, start Rick and Morty on the Chromecast in the living room
  • Hey Google, play the latest season of The Crown on the Google Nest Hub
  • Hey Google, play Black Mirror in the bedroom

The commands shown are just an example of what we can do now that the Netflix account is associated with Google Home. Commands can be customized for any TV series or movie available on Netflixusing as a “playback target” any device compatible with Google Home and associated with our Google profile.

Voice commands can be launched from your smartphone, from a smart speaker (such as the Nest Mini) or directly from the remote control of Chromecast con Google TV or any Android TV.

To activate exclusive voice recognition we open the Google Home app, press at the bottom of the menu Settingswe press on the item Google Assistantlet’s press on the voice Voice Matchwe select the item Startwe press on Continues and repeat the suggested commands to memorize our voice and finally press on Activate.

Our voice will now be associated with our Netflix profile: only we will be able to start Netflix content coming from our personal Netflix profile.

From the same screen seen previously we can also exclude devices from voice activation, but at the moment it is not possible to manage multiple different “voices”. (one for each Netflix profile present in our account).
