Delete the sites opened from the browser

How to automatically delete all sites open on your browser after visiting them, without incognito mode

Delete site tracking All web browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Edge and Opera) include a browsing in private mode which is used to navigate without leaving traces and without the sites visited being stored in the history.

But if we wanted to avoid the use of incognito mode and at the same time delete all traces of browsing, we could configure the browsers to delete history when exiting browser automatically; to make the guide even more complete we will show you how to use portable browsers as emergency browsers, to be deleted immediately after using them (true “disposable” browsers).

1) Set automatic deletion on closing

To delete data when closing the browser we must choose a browser that supports this functionality; the best is without a doubt Mozilla Firefox. To use this function we open the browser, type in the address bar about:preferences#privacy and we activate the voice Delete cookies and website data when you close Firefox. This item can also be reached by taking us to the Settings menu and opening the menu Privacy and security.

If we want an even more effective method we can activate the voice directly Always use Private Browsing modeso you don’t have to worry about history anymore.

Another browser that supports deletion on exit is Microsoft Edge. By opening this browser all we have to do is press at the top of the address bar and type edge://settings/clearBrowsingDataOnClose and activate all the items present. The same menu can be opened by opening settings and taking us to Privacy, search and services -> Clear browsing data when closing.

2) Use “disposable” browsers

If we don’t want to configure the browser to delete the history without incognito, it is worth trying a “disposable” browser, to be used at the moment and to disappear after use.

The best portable browsers to use for this purpose are:

  • Google Chrome Portable
  • Mozilla Firefox Portable
  • Opera Portable
  • Maxthon Portable

After using these browsers we do not move the folders to the Windows Recycle Bin but install them in the system SDelete-Gui to integrate secure deletion (replacing space to make it unrecoverable).

With SDelete-Gui installed on the system (just start it and press on Enable) we right-click on the portable browser folder, press on Show more options (on Windows 11) and press on Secure Delete to make every trace of the portable browser disappear, including its history.

3) Use browsers from USB Live

The most effective method of all avoid saving any type of history plans to use an operating system not stored in main memory; for the purpose then we can use the Ubuntu ISO o di Linux Mintyes install on a USB stick quite roomy.

Once the stick has been prepared, connect it to the PC, restart and let’s change the boot order; if we have done everything correctly we will be able to open the test mode (Try) of the chosen Linux system, working entirely in RAM memory.

We can therefore open the browser and browse without leaving any traces; as soon as the PC is turned off or the electricity is removed there will no longer be any trace of the sites we were visiting.

Conclusions

These tricks allow you to avoid saving your history on your computer but they do not prevent Internet providers and surveillance agencies from spying and monitoring us. For maximum security we can always use some browser with VPN to open anonymous sites or install a anonymous VPN service.
