Foldable Samsung, what we know about the next Galaxy Z Flip

One of the most interesting innovations presented at CES 2024 it is a new brand foldable Samsung called Flex In & Out Flipwhich allows the user to fold the screen in either direction.

Of course it’s still about just a prototype and we don’t know if this technology will actually ever see the light, but in any case it is important to underline the great attention that the South Korean technology giant is putting into these such innovative form factors which, perhaps in the future, will be able to redesign the current idea of foldable smartphones.

Samsung Flex In & Out Flip, what we know

From the first information arriving from CES, we know that the foldable device from Samsung there is one 6.7 inch screen what can be folded in both directions.

When it is folded the other way around, i.e. outwards, you will notice that one side is slightly shorter than the other, to ensure that the other half of the phone does not cover the camera.

According to the images shown, this way you can see that the larger side it can show different information about your phone, including icons which, of course, can be used to call up the relevant app.

At the moment this one from Samsung is the closest to the idea of totally flexible screen and paves the way for many future uses that could find a place on next generation foldables.

As already mentioned, for now, it is only a prototype and we are unlikely to see this technology on the market in the short term, also because the unknowns to be resolved there are still many.

However, it is interesting to note how Samsung, from year to year, works harder and harder to bring its innovative screens to CES, surprising the public every time with new ideas and truly futuristic solutions ready to redesign the future of mobile devices and not only.

What changes with the new display

Of course for users, the biggest advantage is that this Flex In & Out Flip can be used both open and closed, still having one available reasonably large screen.

And in a context where various companies try to equip their leaflets with external screens of significant dimensions, it is clear that such a technology could have a lot to say.

Naturally the problems to be solved there could be many but the South Korean giant already has tested for durability of the screen by using it in extreme conditions and subjecting it to various stresses and, for now, everything seems to work properly and without major difficulties.

It’s not yet time to claim victory, but it is undoubtedly an interesting premise that could simplify the arrival of this smartphone on the market.

Apart from this Samsung brought to CES 2024 other flexible displays such as Flex Liplea second prototype phone that can be curved around the top edge.

In addition to this there is also the Rollable Flexa truly innovative screen that rolls up like a scroll and can expand its size up to five times.

In short, it is clear that the South Korean company is concentrating its efforts in this direction and given the already rather satisfactory results, probably it’s just a matter of time before we can get our hands on smartphones with even more revolutionary form factors.
