Google, a function to prevent unwanted tracking

The past few months have seen the giants Apple e Google engage with all their strength to combat the misuse of tracking devices. The small Bluetooth trackers could in fact be slipped into every jacket, bag or vehicle and it is precisely for this reason that this activity must necessarily be scaled down.

In a joint statement, the companies said that there would be a key element to reduce the misuse of these devices. This is a workaround to be taken about the operating system, so that the latter is capable of detect multiple models of trackers.

The collaboration between Google and Apple therefore has one purpose, namely to develop a uniform solution that can improve discoverability. One of the promises made by Google during the last I/O 2023 has finally been fulfilled: smartphones reject it users when they should be followed by a tracker unknown.

Thanks to a new feature just implemented, Android users will be able to safeguard their privacy. They will indeed receive one notification automatically when an unknown Bluetooth tracker starts traveling with them.

There will also be additional details within the alerts. Tapping the notification will display a map whole which will show the exact point from which the tracker began to travel with us.

There will also be a useful key to issue a sound to the small contraption, thus aiding in its location and without the owner’s knowledge. Some trackers may also share their serial number or additional owner information, such as last four digits of the telephone number.

This new function then also allows the scan preventive manual. Android users will be able to detect any nearby devices just separated from their owners. At the moment the alerts only work with Apple AirTag but soon the availability will be extended. .
