Google wants its AI models to be the best: it uses user data to train them

The update of Google’s privacy policy is very recent, it dates back to July 1, 2023and it is of a certain importance because it concerns artificial intelligence.

For some time Big G has been collecting user data to use it for “commercial purposes” and “research and development”. A fairly trivial example is Google Translate, which is constantly improved thanks to the contribution of the millions of users who use it every month. But now artificial intelligence models have also been included in the package, so that we can train products and services such as Bard and Cloud AI.

Google uses the information to improve its services and develop new products, features and technologies that benefit our users and the public.

Google Bard

As for the artificial intelligence models, the US company (which recently updated Calendar and Lens) explains the following:

For example, we may collect publicly available information online or from other public sources to train AI models and build products and features such as Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI features. Or, if user activity information is displayed on a website, we may index it and display it on Google services.

Should Google’s privacy policy update alarm users? Is the data at risk? According to the document (which can be consulted by everyone by clicking here), the company has no intention of using private data but only public information.
