According to her own admission Ubisoftthe software house has undergone a hacker attack which however she managed to cope with brilliantly.
Security officials identified the breach of security systems and managed to revoke access, preventing hackers from stealing valuable data. They are stored on specific servers 900 GB of information, including data relating to game users Rainbow Six Siege.
The blocking of operations occurred at 48 ore from the intrusion and this still gave cybercriminals some freedom of maneuver. Apparently, in fact, they still had access to the conversations of Microsoft Teamsal server Ubisoft SharePoint and other company communication channels. Despite this, without the intervention of the security personnel, the damage could undoubtedly have been greater.
Attack on Ubisoft: hackers hunting Rainbow Six Siege data
Ubisoft investigated the hack after researchers from VX-Underground shared screenshots online of what appeared to be the company’s internal services. Apparently, the hackers’ goal was Rainbow Six Siege data, but they failed in their aim.
What happened follows, within a few days, the attack suffered by Insomniac Games who saw Ben’s theft 1,6 TB of data from the software house’s servers. All this demonstrates how even video game producers are now in the crosshairs of cybercriminals.
On the other hand, triple-A games have a huge turnover and the data stored on the servers is a real gold mine for hackers. Not for nothing, gaming and ransomware they are a combination that has characterized this 2023 and which, most likely, will also characterize the year that is about to begin.
