How to adjust the sensitivity of your smartphone screen

Are the taps on your phone not as precise as you expected? Let’s see together what tricks to use to increase the sensitivity of the screen

Even on new generation phones we can come across a touch screen sensitivity problem of our fingers: in most cases it is a perceptible tactile feedback problem with a delay in tapping or long-pressing an icon or app.

Sometimes the problem is diametrically opposite: the screen is so sensitive that each touch becomes a long touch, worsening the usability of the phone. Screen sensitivity, both on Android and iPhonecan be adjusted and customized, increasing or decreasing it according to our needs.

1) Change touch and pressure delay

On Android we can change the pressure and touch delay by going to the Settings app by pressing on Accessibilitypressing on Physics o Interactionsby pressing up Long press delay and choosing between Brief, Half o Long.

On iPhone we can change the touch duration by opening the app Settingspressing on Accessibilityby pressing up Touch and choosing between Short and Long under the section Touch duration.

2) Change pointer speed (Android)

This change, valid only for Android, allows you to change the speed of the pointer on the screen, thus also changing the sensitivity of each touch made on the screen (regardless of whether or not you use a mouse connected to the phone).

To proceed we open the app Settingswe open the search menu at the top, we type mousewe open the entry relating to Tastiera, mouse e track pad (the item changes based on the system in use), we press on the item Pointer speed and we adjust the touch sensitivity according to our tastes and the size of our fingers.

3) Touch and Pressure Optimization (iPhone)

On iPhones it is possible to adjust touch and pressure sensitivity in depth, always using the menu Accessibility available in the app Settings.

After opening this screen let’s go to the menu Touchlet’s press on Touch adjustmentwe activate the switch next to the item Touch adjustmentwe activate the voice Pressure duration and we adjust the delay using the – and + keys, choosing the value suitable for our touch; to improve the precision of the touch we can also configure Ignore repetitionbalancing the voice with the duration of the press.

Another valid item to adjust the sensitivity of the screen is Touch assistantwhich we can set to Use initial touch position o Use finishing touch positionalso unlocking a touch and action intensity regulator.

By activating your voice Pressure duration we will also unlock the adjustment of Swipe gesturesreally useful for increasing or decreasing the delay when we use one of the on-screen gestures supported by iPhone.

4) Advanced touch screen settings (Android and Samsung)

On some Android phones and the latest generation Samsungs we can activate or deactivate some items dedicated to screen sensitivity and blocking accidental touches, which can improve or worsen the user experience.

If we have one protective film on the phone it is worth opening the path Settings -> Display of our phone and check if the voice is present Protective film mode or similar items; activating this item will increase the touch sensitivity of the screen and we will be able to use it better even when we have a very thick protection film.

On Samsungs you can also find rumors Protection from accidental touches e Touch sensitivity, which can drastically change the user experience when we touch the screen with our fingers; these two items are available in the path Settings -> Display.

These are the best effective tricks for adjust the screen sensitivity on Android and iPhone and obtain a precise and linear touch whatever the type of hand we have and whatever the conditions in which we touch the screen.

Let’s avoid using apps that adjust the sensitivity on the screen or modify imaginary parameters: they are essentially useless, often harmful and full of advertising.
