iMessage arrives on Android thanks to Nothing: the Chats app officially presented

Blue bubbles, green bubbles, fragmentation, standard support RCS and so on. It’s a story that’s been going on for years now and Apple doesn’t seem at all willing to give in to Google’s requests (often made with ironic and biting videos). In the meantime, however, a third company has entered this discussion, known for its devices with a refined look: Nothing. The latest news is called “Nothing Chats” and – all things considered – brings iMessage su Android.

iMessage for Android is a reality, thanks to Nothing

Nothing Chats turns into reality what is a dream of many users, especially in the United States (less so in Europe, given that Apple’s platform is used very little): iMessage lands on Android. To be more precise, Nothing Chats – an exclusive to the Nothing Phone (2) smartphone – brings with it the iMessage chat support.

«Nothing Chat is an app developed in collaboration with Sunbird and allows you to send messages to other users via blue bubbles», explains the company. «It is currently in beta stage, which means more features and improvements are on the way».

As stated, the app will be operated by Sunbird, an iMessage client launching during 2022 and met with some skepticism. In reality, its success is there for all to see: over the months, the app has been downloaded over 10,000 times from the Google Play Store.

From the FAQ we learn that the configuration of the app requires signing in with your Apple ID and that all conversations will be protected by crittografia end-to-end. In the presentation video – in true Nothing style – the CEO Carl Pei explains that at launch, the app will support both individual and group chats, and will allow the sending of photos, videos and voice messages.

As regards reading receipts, reactions to messages and responses to them will only be available at a later time.

Nothing Chats can be downloaded from the Play Store starting from November 17th only in some markets (United States, United Kingdom and European Union) and only on Nothing Phone (2).
