Instagram working to implement a “Friends Map”

Thanks to careful work by the reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi it was possible to identify a new and interesting feature that should soon be introduced on Instagram.

We’re talking about Friends Mapor the “Friends Map“, whose existence was also confirmed by a spokesperson for Meta to the site TechCrunch and which would allow users to see, in real time, the location of friends and family.

The function at first glance seems to closely resemble Snap Map Of Snapchat. In this sense, this is not the first feature that Instagram “imitates” from the competing platform. The same Storiesimplemented on the Meta service way back in 2016, were in fact inspired by Snapchat.

Paluzzi himself shared screenshots online that would reveal some interesting features of the Friends Map. The data transmitted, it seems, will all be protected by crittografia end-to-end: an almost obligatory choice given that this is sensitive information.

Map of friends and more: developers working to improve Instagram

Again thanks to the revelations of the reverse engineer it was possible to notice how it is possible to choose whether to share the position with everyone or only with a selected circle, i.e. Clone friends (i.e. close friends).

The Friends Map also appears to allow users to leave friends Note on the map for followers. Finally, it seems that there is also one Ghost Modeuseful for hiding the last active position.

Apparently Instagram developers have been busy lately. The possible introduction of the Friends Map, in fact, adds to the testing phase of the function for replying to Notes revealed just a few days ago. At the same time, also theArtificial intelligence is making its way onto the Meta platform, with the introduction of AI-created backgrounds for Stories.
