iPhone 16 Pro, new action button and Capture button: how they will work

The latest smartphones launched by Apple have caused a sensation due to some new features. The iPhone 15 Protop of the range models together with the Max variants, have replaced the silent switch with the new and original button Action. With this button, users can choose one of the numerous features to set to control some very specific actions. It is clear that any functionality chosen and controlled by the Action button can be changed at any time.

In the list of possibilities there is instant activation of the camera, turning on or off the flashlight, starting or stopping a voice memo, the magnifying glass and even the instant translation function.

iPhone 16 Pro, Apple thinks of a new Action button and a Capture button

The Action button should arrive for all four iPhone 16 models towards the end of 2024. Some rumors that had previously spoken about the next iPhone 16 Pro suggested that the Action button would be carved in the side body, allowing the user to activate it with simple pressure, without any mechanics.

Now the rumors speak of something new: Apple is working on perfecting a button the size of those useful for the volumebut only on iPhone 16 Pro.

The company has come up with four button configurations, including a unified volume button with a small Action button, a unified volume button with a larger Action button, and a acquisition (Capture) and separate volume buttons with a large action button and a capture button embedded in the side frame.

The fourth configuration is currently being tested, with separate volume buttons, a small Action button like the one seen on the 15 Pro models and a Capture on the side frame. This new button should be able to start recording video, and maybe even the simple camera, with a simple touch. This will be a button capacitive and non-mechanical, capable of responding to the user’s touch.
