Outlook bug: with more than 500 subfolders, unable to send emails

Microsoft is working to fix a bug affecting users of Outlook.

This, although it only affects some of those who use the email service, represents a potential limit for those who make extensive use of the platform. According to reports, in fact, users with more than 500 shared folders in the main inbox they cannot send emails. Due to some limitations of the client, in fact, they receive theerror 0x80040305 when they try to send.

It is not the first time that the Redmond giant has put its hands on shared folders given that, in 2019, it had to increase their limite a 5.000 per account. That very change, apparently, paved the way for today’s bug. Microsoft’s attention was drawn to several complaints from users who went beyond 500 folders.

At the moment the error has not yet been resolved. This means that those who have exceeded the aforementioned threshold simply need to reduce the number of folders in order to be able to send emails again, although this could be problematic in some contexts. In this sense, however, it should be considered that there is also an alternative.

The second possible solution is to keep all folders compressed. This should allow you to resend emails.

The previous limit of 500 subfolders was imposed by Microsoft for security reasons costs e performance. Synchronization with Exchange, in fact, required considerable effort from the servers. As technology progressed and hardware improved, this limit was increased but, apparently, this change was not entirely painless.

This problem is not the only one that has recently affected email customers: just a few days ago, in fact, some crashes created some discomfort among large users.
