As Upton stated, MicroPython developers can now create Bluetooth projects with Pico W thanks to the latest MicroPython build. The latest update introduces support for Bluetooth Classic, BLE Central and Peripheral roles in the Infineon CYW43439 wireless chip supplied with the microcontroller. Capable of providing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2 connections over a three-pin SPI bus, the chip will become even more powerful with the latest update.
To the delight of those who already own Raspberry Pi Pico W, the update will arrive on all systems currently available on the market and in the hands of users, without the need to purchase a new unit. The software update will be freely downloadable from these hours: just install it on your device. And with support now added for MicroPython, it’s only a short time before it arrives for CircuitPython as well.
