Samsung presented a new generation of sheath microSD which, strong in the standard SD Expresspromises ultra-fast performance.

The Korean giant has announced the first sampling tests for the dal model 256 GB with an announcement through the company’s official website. According to what is stated in the article, the new MicroSD cards should reach a maximum read speed of 800 MB per second.

This technical data takes on considerable value when compared to one of the best cards in circulation (i.e. the Transcend SDXC UHS-II U3) which stops at “soli” 285 MB per second.

Samsung, however, did not want to focus only on performance, paying particular attention to performance as well longevity of these supports. The product in question, according to the Asian company, was designed to work even in “difficult” contexts, with protection from water, resistance to extreme temperatures and even ai X-ray.

The turning point for Samsung and, more generally, for the MicroSD sector, lies precisely in the aforementioned SD Express technology. This standard, although in existence for about six years, has never actually been used for media production.

SD Express, in fact, went beyond the physical capabilities of contemporary cards and, above all, tended to heat too much the hardware, with temperatures that could reach i 96 degrees. Samsung, to combat excessive temperatures, has adopted a particular technology known as Dynamic Thermal Guard.

According to the manufacturers themselves, this is the right time for the launch of the new MicroSD cards. As stated in the aforementioned post, it is “Solutions needed for tomorrow’s on-device AI applications“.

As confirmed by the manufacturer, the first SD Express MicroSD cards, in 256GB format, will be launched on the market during this year. As for the format from 1 TBhowever, the launch window is more precise: the third quarter of 2024.
