Samsung presents Ballie, the AI robot for the home

During the official presentation at CES 2024, Samsung showed the world the new version of Ballil domestic robot of the South Korean giant which gets many new and interesting features.

There are many features on board this smart assistant, including an innovative projector and a whole series of specifications that can make it a perfect helper for taking better care of your home. Let’s find out more about it.

What we know about Ballie

The origins of Ballie they date back to 2020 when at CES that year Samsung brought a “flesh and blood” version of its to the stage robot which rolled happily in front of an amused and admired audience.

This year, the tech giant opted just for a video where the possibilities of the supplied projector are illustrated. Among these we remember the projected video calls directly on the wall, the playback of multimedia content (it is not yet clear whether the robot will also be compatible with streaming platforms) and a whole series of settings that allow self-regulation of the projection mode depending on environmental characteristics.

Also in the video, Samsung showed the functions as a home assistant by Ballie, with the robot that can welcome the user when he returns home, Turn on the lights and the different smart appliances around the house (washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners) and, even, take care of our four-legged friendstaking care of filling their bowls and “entertaining” them when they are left alone at home.

Other than that, the company hasn’t even revealed more information about the model artificial intelligence that moves the prototype; it could be a dedicated version of Samsung Gauss but there are no certainties about it.

All very interesting features and certainly a good step forward in terms of robot assistants for the home, but what scared the audience in the room was the absence of the robot on stage, with Samsung only resorting to a simple illustrative video.

This could mean many things: it could mean that the robot is not ready yet 100% and that he is not yet able to perform these functions liveor, it could be that the technology giant wants to keep the public on their toes and present Ballie, perhaps, with a dedicated event.

When Ballie arrives

Since it is a project quite ambitious e complicated It’s normal that Ballie is taking a long time to arrive on the market, also because Samsung is not 100% focused on this type of device and, probably, investments in this regard they will be less important than, for example, those for smartphones or other smart home devices.

And precisely for this reason, in fact, there is not even the certainty that the robot will actually arrive on the market, so for the moment all that remains is wait for the company to reveal more information about itin the hope that the nice hi-tech gadget can enter our homes as soon as possible.
