Now, however, there could be another competing company ready to “imitate” Samsung in this design; obviously it could only be about Apple which apparently is secretly developing its own folding clamshell smartphone in the footsteps of the Z Flip.

A foldable iPhone with a clamshell design? Apple’s prototypes are two

According to what was reported by very reliable sources overseas, Apple is developing two prototypes of iPhone which fold into a clamshell, just like the Galaxy Z Flip. The indications bring to light this news but also that the two alleged smartphones they are not included in the production plans of the Cupertino company for this year or next year. If these two foldable iPhone variants are not suitable, they will be cancelled.

The report published on the web reports that already in 2018 the CEO Tim Cook he had shown himself in favor of the introduction of these devices. Now everything should be under development, even if there is a particular aspect: Apple engineers would like the clamshell closure to occur in the opposite direction, and therefore with the screen folded outwards. The foldable iPhone, which could arrive in 2026, is expected to have a higher cost to traditional models.
