The new version of Telegram not only revolutionizes notifications and replies, but also makes bots more functional, and ensures better management of the self-deletion of messages.
Despite the Easter period, Telegram has not granted itself any respite and, on the contrary, has dedicated a new update to its users, with the 8.7 release which brings various innovations, on several levels, to the well-known multi-platform messaging.
Regarding the notifications, first of all the customized sounds arrive, thanks to which you can use any voice message or audio file (as long as they are of a maximum duration of 5 seconds and up to 300 KB as a weight) as a sound notification, simply by intervening from the appropriate option in the settings, or by tapping an audio file or voice message in chat and adding it to your notification sounds. At that point, on all the devices connected to your account, in the settings under “Notifications and sounds”, you will find a list of all the sounds available for use.
Still on the subject of notifications, compared to what happened for years, when notifications could be silenced for predefined durations, such as 8 hours or 2 days, now you can indicate a specific duration (e.g. that of the nap), with the Silence and the “Mute sound” item which will allow you to receive notifications without sound, and the “Silence for” option which, on the other hand, will allow you to completely disable the reception of notifications.
It also improves the chat self-deletion menu, not only because it requires fewer touches to access it (from the info page of each chat just click on the 3 dots icon and set the duration within which to proceed with the deduction), but also because it allows greater flexibility in the choice of timers (eg 2 days, 3 weeks, 4 months, etc) with which to proceed with the elimination.
On the subject of replies, the “Replies in forwarded messages” arrive: replying to messages is easy, simply by swiping your finger to the left on a message. Now this generates a preview, tapping which skips to the original message and, again to give more context and allow you to better follow the discussions, when forwarding a message, there will also be response previews in this case.
With regard to bots, thanks to the usability of javascript, developers will be able to create them with flexible interfaces, in order to completely replace websites, with also adaptation to the user’s theme (e.g. with the adjustment of colors in time real if you set a custom theme or switch between day and night mode). The bots, then, can also perform small tasks, such as helping moderators in chats (in this case, from the profile of the bot you can add it to your channel only as an admin, or to your group, even as a simple member) by setting permissions and rights . Thanks to the shopping bots, it will be possible to buy services and goods in chat, without abandoning a conversation, being the same able to open “detailed pages directly in the chat”.
In favor of everyone, new emojis dedicated to food arrive and, in the settings, the interface for changing the phone number now has a makeover thanks to animated ducks. On Android, it improves the picture-in-picture for multimedia playback, with a rounded design and the ability to change its size using pinch-to-zoom (while the X closes it): on iOS the translation of messages has been improved with support for other languages (eg Ukrainian), the possibility of excluding languages that are spoken fluently (with the consequence that the translation button will not be seen in that case) and greater precision.
