Threads, rival of Twitter, will arrive late in Europe: the reason

On the one hand there is Twitter which continues to be inundated with criticism (recently, and without any warning, a limit of viewable tweets per day was imposed), on the other hand there is Threads. Meta’s new social network is closely related to Instagram and will officially debut on July 6th. But not globallyapparently.

Threads: we have to wait for the launch in Europe

There is no doubt that Threads will be downloadable in the US and UK starting July 6, a countdown is in fact active on the website that sweeps away any doubts. In Europe (and in other European Union countries), however, this is not visible, and the reason has just been revealed.

As reported by Independent.iethe Data Protection Commission irlandese (DPC) has confirmed that the unprecedented social network of Meta it will not be accessible immediately in EU countries. For those wondering, the app will be regularly usable in the United Kingdom from 6 July because the latter, following the Brexit, no longer follows the privacy rules set by the European Union. More or less, it is the same speech of Google Bard.

The DPC has reportedly not blocked the launch of Threads, but it is Meta that is stalling to avoid problems with the authorities. And therefore, those who reside in one of the countries of the European Union will have to wait for the necessary changes so that Threads is fully compliant with EU privacy laws.

Meta’s strategy to deliver the knockout blow to Twitter

While related to Instagram, Threads comes across as sort of copy of Twitter. In fact, on the new social platform, users will be able to share text content, photos and videos. Just as happens on the digital square which, according to most, Elon Musk would have irreparably ruined.

According to rumors, the launch of Threads has been brought forward by almost a month to be able to take advantage of the moment of extreme difficulty of the social network of chirps, which has been going really badly lately.

The question that arises at this point is: will Meta be able to permanently knock Twitter out with its new app? Time will tell.
