Threads will show search results in reverse chronological order

Meta’s Threads social media app introduced a recent update. Now users can view search results in reverse chronological order. This means that the app will show the most recent posts first and then the oldest ones. This feature comes as a surprise since the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, had initially rejected the idea of chronological ordering. In December 2023, a user had asked Mosseri if the search results on Threads could be ordered chronologically. The latter had replied that such filtering could bring more spam on the platform. Users could actually abuse search results by spamming posts in search. Furthermore, if the platform attempted to filter such posts, it could be accused of censorship. However, Meta seems to have made a change of direction and introduced the long-awaited feature.

Threads: filter by chronological order also extended to tags

With the Threads filter, users can see the most recent posts in search results. This also applies to posts contained in tag. Also the function “tag” was recently added to the platform and is similar to hashtag are Instagram o Xhowever, is supplied without the “#” and is limited to one tag per post. To access the reverse history filter, users must update their Threads application. So when they search for a keyword or scroll through posts in tags, they’ll see a button with three points at the top of the screen. After clicking that button, users can select options “First” e “Last” to sort your posts in reverse chronological order.

This setting will also apply to other search features. Therefore, if a user has filtered on posts in search, the search results will also show the most recent posts first. Unfortunately for users Androidthe functionality is currently accessible iOS users only. However, we may see the feature rolled out to all users in the next few days.
