To find out the SIM holder and telephone number

How to find the owner of a phone number, the person or company to whom a SIM card is registered

SIM holder If we have a SIM whose owner we do not know, we can, in full compliance with the law, use the tools made available by the various telephone operators and, in the case of SIMs that are not accessible online, use one of the sites indicated to retrieve public information shared online, so you can discover the owner of the SIM yourself.

We have collected the procedures for this here How to find out who a SIM is registered to in our possession for years; if, however, we are looking for the owner of a SIM that is certainly not registered in our name, we will have to rely on the (few) tools available online to try to trace the legitimate owner (who may have lost the SIM following a loss or theft), with all the risks involved (if there is a complaint about the theft of the SIM the risk is enormous).

1) Owner check with the operator

To check the owner of the SIM we can use the management page of the operator to which it is associated. We then check the operator symbol on the surface of the SIM and open one of the sites below:

  • TIM
  • Vodafone
  • WindTre
  • Fastweb
  • PosteMobile
  • Very Mobile
  • To. Mobile

Once we have chosen the SIM operator’s website, we log in using the telephone number on the SIM or username and password; if we don’t remember it, we can start a recovery procedure via the email used during registration.

Inside the personal page we open the information on the SIM in our possession or on the account registered on the portal, so as to find out who a SIM is registered to. In the information sheet we will be able to obtain the personal data and the identity card associated with the SIM in use.

Let’s remember that the access data o the personal data may be different from the identity card provided: in the case of SIMs provided to minors, the document of one of the parents must be provided in order to register the SIM.

2) Holder check with Truecaller

If the SIM is not accessible through the operators’ personal pages, we can try to enter the telephone number on it on the site TrueCaller.

On this site we will be able to start a search with the telephone number present on the SIM, so as to be able to trace the owner or last user of the same. The service is quite reliable, but we will still have to be lucky enough that the previous user has at least once used the services associated with it or has installed the Truecaller app at least once.

3) Check name with Who’s calling?

Another service similar to TruCaller to find out who a SIM is registered to is Who’s calling?

Also in this case we will simply have to enter the telephone number associated with the SIM in the text field and start the search; if in the past the SIM has been used for the site’s app services or reported as a jammer’s number, it will appear as a search result.

4) Holder check with Dive3000

Another site where you can search for telephone numbers associated with SIMs is Dive3000known as the true “mobile phone directory.”

All we have to do is access the service via a free account (which we can also create on the spot) and check if the number of the SIM in our possession is present in any list.

5) Search Social networks and search engines

If the previous methods did not allow us to know who a SIM is registered to, we can try the last resort, inserting the telephone number associated with it into Google or in the search bar of a social network (such as Facebook).

If the owner or last user of the SIM has associated it with an activity or service indexed by Google, on any site with public information or on Facebook Messenger (by setting privacy to Publish), we will be able to trace him easily, also obtaining his name and surname (we can also contact him to find out if he is really the owner of the SIM or just one of its users).

If we can’t find anything, we can also broaden the search to other search engines such as Bing, Yahoo o DuckDuckGoas indicated in our guide on Best private search engines.
