If the Windows computer is connected by cable or via Wi-Fi we can transform your PC into a real routerproviding wireless connectivity to all devices in the same room or on the same floor, without having to use a range extender.This is useful in different scenarios, for example if we don’t have a wifi connection and we don’t want or can’t use the phone’s data connection, you can connect your smartphone to the internet via PC.

1) Hotspot Wi-Fi su Windows 11
On Windows 11 we can activate the Wi-Fi hotspot by pressing WIN+I on the keyboard or by right-clicking on the Start menu and pressing up Settings.
In the window that opens, let’s go to the menu Network and Internetwe press on Hotspot mobile and activate the switch next to the item Hotspot mobile. In the field Share my Internet connection from we choose the connection source (Wi-Fi o Ethernet) and choose from the menu Share via the voice Wi-Fi.
To change the password and name of the Wi-Fi hotspot we expand the section Propertyclick on the button Edit and change the network name and password, leaving the rest of the options unchanged.
2) Hotspot Wi-Fi su Windows 10
On Windows 10 the procedure for creating a Wi-Fi hotspot is very similar to that seen on Windows 11. To proceed, press the right button on the Start menu at the bottom left, press on Settingswe press on Network and Internetclick on the side menu Hotspot mobile and activate the switch on the screen.
After turning on the switch we set the menus Share my Internet connection from e Share via as seen earlier, setting the source and the Wi-Fi connection which will have to function as a hotspot.
To change the password and the network name, press the button instead Edit and choose a network name and password to connect the devices in the room.
3) App per creare hotspot Wi-Fi
If the procedure is not successful or you encounter difficulties, we can use some programs that allow you to transform Windows into a Wi-Fi router automatically.
The best app we can try for the purpose is MyPublicWiFiavailable for free download and provided as open source (freely licensed) software.
To use this program all we have to do is open it and go to the menu WLAN Hotspotchoose the network card from which to share the connection (in the field Internet Connection), choose the name of the network (in the field Network Name (SSID)) and choose a password (in the field Network Keychoosing one of at least 8 characters).
At the end we press on Start Hotspot to transform our Windows PC into a Wi-Fi router; pressing Stop Hotspot will turn off network connection sharing.

With Windows 11 and Windows 10 we can quickly create a hotspot from your PC, so you can use it as a Wi-Fi router, so as to effectively connect any device in the room, without having to place new range extenders or use the Powerline connection.
