Vision Pro: Face ID-style face scanning during the demo

Apple Vision Pro will be officially released on February 2 in the United States. The company of Cupertino will therefore allow users who wish to try the viewer to register for some demo sessions. In his most recent newsletter “Power On”, the analyst of Bloomberg, Mark Gurmanhas provided more clarity on how in-store demos for Vision Pro will work. According to Gurman, the process will begin with an Apple Store employee will scan users’ faces to locate the light seal for Apple headsets, a process similar to setting up the Face ID. For those who need vision correction, Apple reportedly it will also scan the lenses with a special device to find out the gradation. Then an employee mounts one of the “hundreds” of on-hand lenses and a seal onto a Vision Pro and explains how to use the device (including, apparently, how to hold it).

Vision Pro: face scan with iPhone or iPad to purchase the headset online

Gurman emphasizes that the demo will have a maximum duration of 25 minutes. This will reportedly result in the viewing photos e video (including 3D space videos of iPhone 15 Pro), using Vision Pro as substitute for a computer o iPad and control of third-party apps. The process is long, although it will not be necessary for the purchase. In fact, it seems that Apple will also sell the viewer online. Users will still need to scan the own face with an iPhone o one iPad to get the correct headband and they will need the prescription for sight ready for optical inserts from $149. Gurman writes that Apple has also made a second strap for the visor more comfortable than the original, although he says this strap won’t be present at the demos. Furthermore, according to the article, Belkin will offer an accessory battery clip.

A recent supply chain leak claims that Apple will only have a maximum of 80.000 Vision Pro coming at launch and only half a million through 2024. At the moment the price is too high for most users and it would be risky to produce many of them. However, Apple is already planning to launch its own line of devices Vision. According to rumors, the company would like to release a second one cheaper version of the viewer. Finally, Apple should also make a set of AR glasseslike glasses Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. At the moment, however, these are rumors, to find out more we will have to wait for the official arrival of Vision Pro and, above all, how the public will welcome the new Apple viewer.
