A function that was initially planned only for the application for mobile devices, both iOS and Android, and which is now arriving also for the web version of WhatsApp with a specially designed interface. Let’s find out all the details of the upcoming changes.
Chat Lock, what it is and how it works
The chat lock function is already known and is frequently used by users who access WhatsApp from a mobile device. It allows to apply a lock to specific chatswhich are moved to a special area that only the account owner can view.
To access the messages to which the padlock has been applied you must enter a secret codeunique and different from that needed to unlock the smartphone, or exploit the device’s protection systems, such as biometric locking or facial recognition.
Chat Lock, coming to the web with an improved interface
WhatsApp developers are constantly working to allow users to have an increasingly better experience on the platform, both when accessing from desktop and when using the application. For this reason, over the months, we have witnessed frequent changes to the interface, with the aim of making it more modern and attractive, and with new features, some of which have obtained extremely positive feedback from users. This is the case of chat lock, which, following its success on mobile, will soon also land on WhatsApp web.
He will do it thanks to one new tab designed to contain all chats blocked with the chat lock function and which will be represented, unless changed, by a padlock icon.
Users will therefore finally be able to manage blocked chats even when accessing the messaging service from desktop. Implementing Chat lock on WhatsApp Web means allowing users to hide the chats they want to keep secret even when they are close to other people.
The feature is still under development and, for the moment, it is impossible to know what methods are designed to allow access to this tab and when the official release will take place. Most likely, you will need to enter a secret code. Pinned chats will be synced across every device you use.
