WhatsApp Web, self-destructing photos and videos soon available

Among the recent features introduced on the WhatsApp application for mobile devices is the one that allows you to send photos and videos that self-delete after viewing by the recipient. A solution that has been extremely appreciated, since it allows you to forward multimedia elements, but to control and limit their viewing and, consequently, to reduce the possibility that they are shared with other users by those who receive them. In this way, it guarantees the protection of privacy and prevents dissemination of personal images or images containing sensitive informationi.

The feature was initially made available only for the app for mobile devices, both those with iOS and Android operating systems. Given its success a major change is coming: Let’s find out.

Photos and videos that self-destruct, the new thing

Self-destructing photos and videos will soon be possible also sent from the desktop version of WhatsApp. Those who access the web version of the platform no longer have to fear for their data and contents, as the function has currently entered an initial testing phase.

At the moment only a few users can use it, who will have the privilege of trying it in preview to identify any errors, bugs or necessary improvements, but in the coming weeks it will be released to an increasingly wider audience.

Its operation will be very similar to that already present on mobile devices, with the introduction of a button in the writing bar on which to click if you want to limit the display of the content. This option will be introduced both for those who own a Windows personal computer and for those who use a Mac or an iPad.

All images and videos sent with the activation of the option are never stored in the memory of the recipient’s device. In addition to privacy protection, the user can count on, thanks to this functionality, on greater control of shared media.

Photos and videos that self-destruct, how to send them from the web

To send images and videos from the web version of WhatsApp you need to log in to WhatsApp Web or, alternatively, WhatsApp Desktop with your account. Subsequently you must locate, within the list of chats, the individual recipient or the group to which you want to forward the multimedia content.

Click on the paperclip icon inside the writing bar and select Photo and video. Choose the content to send and press the button represented by the number 1 enclosed in a circle. Click on the send button.

Who receives the image or video will not be able to preview, but you will have to press on the message to see the content. Once viewed, it will self-destruct, and will no longer be available for re-viewing.
