Windows 11 will block installation on devices that don't meet the minimum requirements

We know that there are several ways to install Windows 11 on an incompatible PC and run the latest Microsoft operating system without limitations. And it is the Redmond company itself that describes some of these methods in the official documentation. Windows 11however, it may soon no longer allow installation on devices that do not meet the minimum requirements. In particular, Windows 11 is about to become much more uncompromising in the control of Compatible CPUs.

The wind of change seems to be blowing with the arrival of Windows 11 build 25905the latest preview version intended for users enrolled in the program Windows Insider. While making use of the changes aimed at disabling the checks at thestarting the installation of Windows 11, the most recent release of the operating system no longer wants to load on systems equipped with old CPUs. For example, one user confirmed that recent preview releases posted in the channel Canary of Windows 11 do not install on machines equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo processors or other CPUs considered outdated.

Windows 11 stricter in checking installation requirements

The interesting aspect is that by replacing the install.wim, contained in the installation media of previous versions of Windows 11, with the one taken from build 25905, the operating system no longer installs. This is a confirmation that Microsoft has indeed made important changes precisely at the file level install.wim.

As we have seen in the article mentioned at the beginning, in fact, until today the checks on the presence and enabling of the TPM 2.0 chip, on the CPU and RAM installed, on the effective activation of the Secure Boot function on startup, were carried out before loading the content Of install.wim using special libraries contained in the folder sources of the installation media.

Microsoft is preparing instead to “change everything” with a requirements check for installing Windows 11 which seems to be getting much more uncompromising.

In the future, therefore, the options of bypassing integrated into software tools such as Rufus and Ventoy may therefore be ineffective. And not just those related to CPU check present on the system but also those that allow you to avoid any checks on the TPM, RAM and Secure Boot.

The choice to further limit the installation of the system is incomprehensible

We have already mentioned the choice to limit the installation of Windows 11 to CPUs Intel Kaby Lake (8th generation) and later as well as AMD processors Ryzen 2000 and following is incomprehensible. Also because a large array of video systems previous generationsespecially if supported by an adequate supply of RAM memory, allows you to run Windows 11 with excellent performance.

The aim was evidently to solicit thebuying new PCs equipped with Windows 11 shaking up the market. Someone believed that over time Microsoft would “loose the links” by allowing the installation of Windows 11 on an ever-increasing number of devices. All to the advantage of the market shares prerogative of the new operating system. In reality, not only did it not happen but Microsoft is now preparing to implement a mechanism that prevents what until now was possible for all interested users (manual installation on Incompatible PCs).

Once again, as we wrote two years ago, Windows 10 is destined to become immortal, somewhat following what has already happened in the past in the case of Windows 7.
