According to the most accredited sources, the launch of Windows 12 will take place in the autumn of 2024. Microsoft is working on a flawless implementation in all respects, with completion to be seen in 2025.
In this regard, the Redmond company is experimenting with new ideas regarding design, including a new desktop experience. This would be about one new floating taskbar.
Microsoft’s goal is to create a task bar that floats, allowing users to separate it from the desktop. In this way it will be possible to position it in any corner of the screen, without always having to return to the usual point to choose one of the links inside it.
The design will most likely be rounded on the edges, giving space to the minimal concept that Microsoft is slowly reinforcing in Windows 11 as well.

Among the other innovations that will characterize the new version of the Redmond operating system, there will be one that will not concern the aesthetics. In fact, the company is working on optimizing the code useful for running the OS even on computers equipped with processors with architecture ARM.
Everything will obviously be implemented in the best possible way thanks to the use of artificial intelligence, as is the case in Windows 11 with Copilot.
The wait should be the one suggested by the rumors, since Windows 12 shouldn’t go beyond 2024. Currently Microsoft is not exposing itself to the existence of the new operating system but the rumors that have reached the web are in line with the roadmap that the colossus has held in recent years. To date there is no precise date, but the period should be unequivocal.
Although there are no confirmations, the last event held by Microsoft had hinted that the developers were working on a “Next Generation Windows“. Also, a version of Windows 11 with a floating task bar was accidentally shown during the Ignite Conference 2023. Could this be the prelude to the next OS?
