2024 promises to be a very exciting year for Microsoft. The team dedicated to Windowsin fact, has recently been the subject of a profound restyling, precisely in view of some interesting innovations that will characterize the near future of the operating system.
In this regard, some rather interesting rumors are starting to circulate regarding future updates which should concern the gradual introduction of theArtificial intelligence in the OS and other revolutionary features.
The next-generation Windows version, that is Hudson Valley, will be the fulcrum of many of these changes. According to what has been revealed, Microsoft has decided to change its approach to the operating system, concentrating the innovations in one massive annual update, with a three-year cycle for major releases. Despite this, Windows should still receive a small “intermediate” update. This, released in the first half of 2024, should literally “prepare the way” for the aforementioned Hudson Valley.
Windows, Microsoft and 2024: a true revolution
Hudson Valley will be based Germanium, which will represent its foundations. The first computers running with this new solution, combined with ARM processors, will presumably hit the market mid-year.
What does this mean for ordinary users? The impact should be immediate. According to experts, this change is comparable to moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10. As is almost obvious, many of the features will be more or less focused on Artificial Intelligence. These introductions should also be tied to the introduction of new hardware, such as neural processor units (NPU).
According to what was stated by Windows CentralMicrosoft is working on introducing one AI-powered shell. In this sense Copilot should come out strengthened with additional interesting features, such as a sort of “history management“, through which Copilot can remember what happened on apps and websites visited.
Windows Searchfor its part, could obtain the support of natural language, giving users the ability to find files using descriptive input of the searched file. According to what has been leaked, there is also talk of aimproved energy efficiency, and quite a bit, with notable effects on Windows laptops. In this regard, some products may get up to 50% longer life of the battery.
Among the introductions, theupscaling videoa kind of “super resolution” applied to both multimedia content and gaming. This solution should allow you to make the most of thehardware NPUcapable of enhancing any video playback.
Finally, it seems that Microsoft is also thinking about a graphic restyling, transforming the taskbar in a dock. For Windows Central, however, the development team is not yet convinced of this choice, which could be adopted in a much more distant future than the now imminent 2024.
