Good news for users of iPhone e iPad that they use regularly X.

The platform of Elon Muskin fact, has introduced (regardless of the type of user subscription) the possibility of accessing it through passkey. This means that account holders will be able to rely on increased account security, using methods such as Face ID e Touch ID to access X.

Passkey access is currently available only on American soil although, in all likelihood, it will not be introduced in the distant future on our continent either. At the moment, X has not even revealed whether it will introduce secure access systems in other ecosystems, such as Android o desktop operating systems.

X accessible via Face ID or Touch ID: for now only on American territory

The passkey system allows you to link your device and X account through the use of two cryptographic keys. One of them is stored on the platform, while the other is stored locally.

We are talking about a system capable of replacing traditional, technology-based passwords WebAuthn. But what happens if the device with the passkey is broken or lost? Meanwhile, it should be pointed out that it is possible to use different devices to have a sort of “access backup“.

Many services that support passkeys also allow further authentication through telephone number, email address or with one hardware security key.

X is just the latest major tech brand to enable this technology, joining notable names like Google, PayPal, Microsoft. In fact, it is a standard that is now very widespread and which, in all likelihood, will be adopted by an even larger number of devices and platforms in the coming years.
