YouTube: new move by the platform against adblockers

The fight between YouTube they adblocker It’s certainly nothing new but, for this now long dispute, a new chapter is opening.

Through an update just a few hours ago, the well-known video streaming platform has made a further move towards users who use these methods to block ads. In fact, those who use third-party apps for this purpose may encounter significant problems when watching videos buffering e error messages.

As already mentioned, last year YouTube acted with a certain vehemence against ad blockers, pushing users to accept advertising or sign up for a subscription with YouTube Premium. Despite this, after a few days in which these moves seemed to have stemmed the problem, those who create the blocking apps managed to update their software, making them effective again.

Adblocker: YouTube moves to protect creators who work on the platform

The new implementations appear to have targeted mobile apps such as AdGuard. These allow the user to bypass YouTube, accessing the platform via the app itself and therefore “filtering” the advertisements.

The platform, for its part, confirmed how it intends to allow the use of its own API to third-party apps only if they follow i terms of service. If a non-compliant application is identified, YouTube reserves the right to take appropriate measures to protect creators and users.

YouTube Premium, in addition to eliminating advertisements when watching videos, also offers other advantages such as the ability to download videos offline, playback of content in the background and access to YouTube Music.

In Europen territory this subscription costs 11.99 euros per month for the single subscription and 17.99 euros per month for the family one.
