Engaged in a promotional campaign in favor of Spaces, the social platform Twitter has announced an important news for independent developers, while – under the radar – it works on new and important features.

The official news in Twitter share concerns the announcement of the important update just conferred to the API v.2 which is used by third-party developers to create their own alternative Twitter clients: in the past, using the API v1.1, there were some limits such as being able to update the timeline 15 times every 15 minutes, accessing up to 800 tweets per user. With the announced update, however, still in 15 minutes it will be possible to forward 180 requests to update the timeline, “digging back” up to 3,200 tweets per single user.

The ease of development of third-party clients has also improved compared to the past: previously, as explained by the co-developer of Tweetbot, Paul Haddad, it was necessary to use v1.1 to access the list of tweets, and v2 to obtain other types of data, including metrics, cards and surveys, while with the new updated API v.2, it will be possible to do everything with the same library, in a single step. Always with the update in question, as 9to5google adds, even alternative clients will be able to access the reverse timeline previously reserved for the original Twitter client.

Moving on to the unofficial news, that is, discovered via reverse engineering, the leaker Alessandro Paluzzi has announced that the possibility of recording clips of recorded Spaces is also under development for Android.

Another novelty in the works is the one that will see a shortcut to the future function (now in test) of the Twitter Circle appear in the side menu. New details have also emerged for the future feature of collaborative tweets, which can only be published when the other person has accepted the invitation to collaborate. Regarding the arrival of the mobile side of the advanced search filters function, among these there will also be the one relating to the posting date (with various options).
