After announcing it at CES 2022, the American brand DELL has started pre-orders for a professional monitor for hybrid work aimed at uniting teams in the presence and remote workforce: it is, specifically, the Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Conferencing Monitor. intended to actually be available on the market from July, at a price – for the US – of $ 1,599.
The Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Conferencing Monitor inserts, between contained side frames, a 31.5-inch panel resolved in 4K according to an aspect ratio of 16: 9: the values of the refresh rate (60 Hz) and the response time (8 ms) do not make it the ideal companion for gamers, but for professionals yes, since its LED backlighting has earned it the HDR 400 certification, with 400 nits of maximum brightness and 2,000: 1 contrast (improved both by the IPS Black technology and by the treatment anti-glare), and by virtue of the excellent coverage on the DCI-P3 (98%) and sRGB (100%) color scales.
At the top, in a curious ring on the upper frame of the UltraSharp 32 4K Conference Monitor, there is a webcam based on the Sony Starvis 4K HDR CMOS sensor, capable of automatically keeping the subject in the center of the frame (as in the rival Studio Display of Apple, whose webcam is 12 mpx), to restrict the frame to 65, 78 or 90 ° depending on the amount of background you want to show, to improve the sharpness via AI, to autoset the light sensitivity.
According to the manufacturer, the webcam in use on the Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Conferencing Monitor features an automatic shutter (open only when the same is in use, so you don’t have to flip it when not in use) and a physical mute button. Accompanying it are two 14W speakers and two noise-canceling microphones.
In terms of ports, the Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Conferencing Monitor, equipped with adjustable tilt, has an HDMI and a Display Port 1.4, both with HDCP 2.2, a Display Port output (with Multi-Stream Transport), a 3.5 mm jack , and a hub with 8 USB, of which 5 Type-A and 3 Type-C (one of which, the one for the upstream, with DisplayPort 1.4 and power supply up to 90W, while another supports Battery Charging 1.2 and a still another – that for the downstream – manages up to 15W of power delivery).
