Apple: An AI tool similar to ChatGPT is being tested, but it's for support only

Apple should present important news related to thegenerative artificial intelligence on the occasion of WWDC24, an event during which – as per tradition – operating system updates will be the protagonists. In the meantime, however, it seems that the Cupertino company is doing well testing internally a tool AI which will allow its employees to deliver faster technical support.

Ask is Apple’s new AI tool: it’s like ChatGPT and is only for those who deal with technical support

Based on what was reported by MacRumorsthe Californian giant has recently launched a program to provide a selected consultants from the Support team access to a new tool called Ask. This would be able to automatically generate answers to technical questions submitted by consumers.

Consultants will be able to rate an answer provided by the AI as “helpful” or “not helpful” and will be able to ask up to five follow-up questions for a specific topic. This instrument, according to the rumor, it will then be made available to more employees in the future after collecting a good amount of feedback.

Apple Support

Apple would like its consultants to use Ask before relying on “traditional search methods” or asking for help from a senior consultant. This would in fact be a way to train AI e understand whether it is capable of solving complex problems. In short, in this testing phase the tool is based on Apple’s knowledge will be put to the test.

A query to be given to the AI could be the following: «A customer is unable to update their device to iOS 13.7. What can be done?”. Ask’s response should include all the solutions to solve the problempresumably starting from the simplest one to put into practice.

This is the first time details about Ask have been shared (not confirmed by the company), but it is also clear from CEO Tim Cook’s recent words that Generative AI is something Apple wants to focus on in the immediate future. There will be no shortage of updates on this during 2024, with all or almost all the spotlight on WWDC24 in June.
