In fact, yesterday the service announced the opening of a new phase early access for what concern self-hostingi.e. the possibility for users to store their data directly, without relying on external servers.
This, as it is easy to imagine, should be able to guarantee users to obtain full control over social networks, both in terms of privacy both in optics i regulations and moderation. In fact, it will be possible to create internal social platforms for companies in the not too distant future or services of this type on specific topics.
According to the BlueSky developers, it will initially be possible for users to host their account data independently. Only at a later stage will it be possible manage a server with multiple accounts. At the same time, the developers of the social network let it be known that they are working on useful tools to identify and contain potential abuse by users.
Self-hosting and Bluesky: a long-term project
However, Bluesky has warned users that the transition to the self-hosting philosophy will not be so simple. Even for the most experienced developers, managing this new approach to the social world will take time.
On the other hand, Bluesky has also shown that it wants to move carefully, opening up to public tests at the beginning of the month through a invitation system. Since its launch, the platform has garnered over 3 million registrations although, with the future prospects regarding his new revolutionary philosophy, these numbers seem destined to multiply.
