ChatGPT: cybercriminals increasingly interested in OpenAI's tool

A research carried out by Kaspersky and which looks at last year, revealed how in Dark Web we talk more and more about ChatGPT.

According to researchers, in fact, sui forum of hackers have recently been opened almost 3,000 discussions about the chatbot of OpenAI and the possible abuses of this tool. All this while always taking into account that, in the cybercrime environment, a sort of evil twin of ChatGPT has already been created, known as FraudGPT.

Although the peak of posts opened on the forums concerns last March, discussions on this topic are always active and see cybercriminals busy always looking for new strategies to exploit theArtificial intelligence. The data shared by Kaspersky and Infosecurity, most of the content concerns the creation of malware and the illicit use of linguistic models.

Kaspersky analyst Alisa Kulishenko explained how hacker forums routinely discuss how to steal data from users, analyze files on victims’ devices, and other operations far beyond the confines of the law.

Dark Web and ChatGPT: buying and selling stolen accounts is worrying

Per la Kulishenko“Threat actors tend to share jailbreaks via various Dark Web channels – special sets of instructions that can unlock additional functionality on devices – and devise ways to exploit legitimate tools, such as those for pen-testing“.

Another worrying aspect that emerged from the Kaspersky report is the computer market account ChatGPT rubati. Most of the posts on the forums that deal with the OpenAI tool, in fact, concern this illegal market, alongside automatic creation systems capable of creating mass accounts.

According to cybersecurity experts, it is therefore good practice to protect your ChatGPT accounts. This is done through implementing strong passwords, as well as using appropriate tools to protect your devices.
