Apart from a few notebooks (Asus’ ExpertBooks and HP’s new Pavillions), the product category that seems to excel at Computex 2022 in Taipei is undoubtedly that of gaming monitors: the models unveiled by Asus, Samsung and LG, have just added the impressive MEG 342C QD-OLED from the local MSI.

The new MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED gaming display, inserted in the high-end videogame products of the Taiwanese brand, as per the denomination, adopts, for the second time in the world (after the primacy of the new DELL Alienware AW3423DW), the QD technology -OLED which in practice mixes the contribution of the OLED and that of the Quantum Dot (whose layer replaces that of the RGB filters in normal OLEDs), in order to obtain saturated colors even at high levels of brightness (vs the loss of saturation , under similar circumstances, by regular OLEDs).

Technicalities aside, MSI’s new terminal opts for a 34-inch panel according to the aspect ratio at 21: 9, resolved at 3440 x 1440 pixels, with 1800R of curvature, 0.1 ms of GtG response time, 175 Hz of refresh rate, very realistic (99.3% on the DCI-P3 scale, 97.8% on the Adobe RGB one, 139.1% on the sRGB one, also thanks to the combination of technologies such as QD Premium Color and MSI True Color ee exclusive Premium color mode) and accurate (Delta E ≤2, factory calibration) in color rendering.

Equipped with a smart management of light and color temperature, via environmental sensor, the new MSI MEG 342C QD-OLED gaming monitor also benefits from the contribution provided by the software, which brings smart noise cancellation via Sound Tune AI and, on OnScreenDisplay, functions such as KVM switch, PBP / PIP, and Smart Crosshair (intelligent viewfinder that changes color to differentiate itself from the background).

Accompanied in its elegant design by the “MSI Mystic Light” external RGB backlighting, obviously customizable in its effects, the MEG 342C QD-OLED gaming monitor has not yet been accompanied by MSI with the expected distribution information (markets, prices, timing of marketing) expected accordingly for the next few weeks.
