It attracted the first opinions and the great attention of curious and enthusiasts already at its launch event. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra it is one of the best camera phones of 2024 and there is no doubt about it. With its four rear sensors it manages to provide stratospheric performance in terms of photos and videos, even more so when you switch to 100x zoom. Apparently, to give a further demonstration of strength, the company has chosen to test its top of the range by taking photos of the Earth directly from above stratosphere.

As reported by the source who documented everything, Samsung attached its Galaxy S24 Ultra to four stratospheric balloons and made them soar. These balloons launched from the Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Sierra Nevada mountains. At a height of 36 km above the ground, this extraordinary service was carried out.

The height reached by Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, 120,000 feet, is significantly higher than that of a spy plane SR71 BlackBird. This is therefore a considerable share, obviously not to be considered “space”. In fact, to reach space, smartphones would have had to reach a height of 100 km, three times higher than that achieved.

However, over 150 photos were taken using all cameras and with zoom 1x, 3x e 5x. You can notice the curvature of the earth and at the same time also the darkness of space. The landscapes are spectacular, as the morphology of some mountain ranges is clearly visible along with many other geographical features typical of planet Earth.

You would most likely get fantastic photos from this altitude even with other top-of-the-range smartphones, but in the meantime only Samsung has chosen to do something like this. The images speak for themselves for what is a more unique than rare event.
