Google Chrome adds machine learning to the address bar

There is great news based on AI for those who use the famous browser Google Chrome. The address bar also called Omnibox just got a new one update. BigG has in fact introduced a new possibility: the update, as reported, should implement the address bar in order to provide suggestions of web pages that are more precise and relevant than what we have seen to date.

Google announced the news directly on its blog: the latest version of Chrome, namely M124, will bring users the possibility of using the machine learning nella omnibox

Google Chrome improves its Omnibox: machine learning arrives

As the giant explains, previously everything within the bar worked thanks to formulas developed and implemented manually, thus offering the URL suggest. The problem recognized by the engineers is that these formulas were not too “malleable”: in short they could not be improved or adapted to different situations.

Google says that with these new models introduced they make it possible “collecting the latest signals, retraining, evaluating and implementing new models” in time. The system will be based on user behavior, following their habits. In short, when a user leaves a page, Google Chrome with its new learning system will be able to assign a relevance score to that address based on the elapsed time.

This way we will be able to provide much more targeted suggestions every time a user searches for something on Google Chrome. Everything will be easier with a web browser that will seem as understanding as if there was a human being on the other end.

Soon, the technology giant says it wants to develop specialized versions of the model in order to cover more areas. In fact, Google is not only targeting consumers but also companies. The new update is currently only available to a few people.
